The metal/acrylic partial, commonly called a cast partial, is usually a more rigid and permanent style of denture. The metal is a highly compatible chrome cobalt alloy which is ultra thin, light, and very strong.

The new flexible thermoplastics have the advantage of esthetics and flexibility, but may not be suitable for all situations.
All partials are designed to be removable and should be removed nightly to contribute to a healthy oral environment.
Properly designed partial dentures do not harm remaining natural teeth. In fact, a partial denture helps maintain the position of natural teeth by providing support and therefore preventing them from shifting or drifting into the space left by a lost tooth. Lastly a partial denture can help balance the bite and better distribute the stresses on the natural teeth while eating.
